Rootstic Art Landscape was founded in 2009 by Max Rivera. Here’s a little bit of the story: Max started the landscaping company after he relocated with his family from Puerto Rico to California in 2007. Prior to moving, Max spent his college years in Puerto Rico composing and recording music, and he eventually became well known and popular in his hometown. He was able to come to California on tour with his band in 2002 because of his musical dedication and passion. Through the friends and connections he made on that tour, he was able to make use of numerous opportunities. He worked in agriculture on various farms throughout Northern California after moving to California with his newly formed family in 2007. He also worked for a local landscaper in Santa Cruz for about 18 months before deciding to start his own landscaping company. Despite his recent arrival in the state, he was humble and determined to begin with a used small truck, a lawn mower, a blower, and a few other basic tools. He began landscaping services in Watsonville, Prunedale, Las Lomas, and throughout Santa Cruz County. He began with maintenance and progressed to larger-scale projects for his clientele over time. In 2017, he was tasked with remodeling a backyard, but he needed his contractor's license, which he began studying for in November 2017 while he was still working as a subcontractor for a larger company. Max's typical day would consist of working during the day and attending classes at night. He would also work for Uber and Lyft on the side to help support his family. In 2018, while continuing his studies and preparation, he established his corporation, and in 2019, he received his contractor's license. Throughout this time, Max has been passionate and committed to providing quality service and striving not merely to do good work but also to make it appealing and artistic. Because that is where the company name comes from. Maintenance, Hardscape, Demolition, Landscape, Lighting, Synthetic Lawn, Walls and Steps, and numerous other services are now available from Rootstic Art Landscape. Max Rivera comes from a humble family; his grandmother was a teacher, school principal, artist, and the first female candidate for mayor in the country town of Utuado, Puerto Rico. His late grandfather was a straightforward but knowledgeable farmer. On his father's side, things were even more difficult because his father became an orphan at the age of 13 and, at that young age, became head of the household with four sisters and his mother to care for. Max's father is an excellent role model for him. Coming from such humble and difficult beginnings, his father is now one of Puerto Rico's most successful, certified, and respected specialty contractors and businessmen.
